If you have a Mac at home and a Mac laptop that you carry with you to work, school or wherever, you’ve probably forgotten to move a file from your desktop to your laptop before you left once or twice. After this tutorial, you’ll never have to worry about leaving an important file on your home computer again, because you can use your iCloud email login to gain remote access to your Mac.
1) On your Mac computer(s), go to “System Preferences”, choose “iCloud” and turn on “Back up my Mac”.
2) Next, go to “System Preferences” and select “Sharing”, then turn on “File Sharing and Remote Login”.
3) Get your Mac’s account number by going to “Applications”, choose “Utilities in Terminal” and enter the following: dns-sd-E
4) Keep that number somewhere safe so you can access it when you need it.
5) On your other computer, go to “System Preferences”, “Sharing”, “Remote Login” and enter in SSH: ssh-2-6username@computer-name.[your Mac account #].members.btmm.icloud.com
