Even though the security flaw that allowed hackers to access hundreds of private celebrity pictures in 2014 was quickly fixed by Apple, it taught all of us that we can’t take our security lightly, especially when it comes to cloud storage like iCloud. Here are some tips to enhance the security of your iCloud email login:
• Know what is being backed up automatically. If you often take pictures with your iPhone that you would rather keep private, for example, you might consider disabling auto backup of photos to iCloud.
• Use a personal iCloud account. Family iCloud accounts are great for sharing music and books from iTunes, but there might be some things on your device you would rather keep to yourself. Having a personal account can prevent family members from accidentally having access to private photos and texts.
• Make a stronger password. The longer and more complicated your password is, the harder it is to hack, it’s as simple as that.
